June 2004 Newsletter

With the IRC less then a week away Ron W. and Dan whipped up a match consisting of revisions to stages that will be seen at this years IRC. Twenty two shooters attended. Some came to check out gear, loads and techniques, others just to stay limber. There was a definite air of seriousness about things that you generally don’t see at a club match however. Derek won the match by a wide margin taking wins on stages three, four and five. Richard Koester, who drove down from the central valley, placed second overall with a win on stage 2. Pete at third overall. Dan Carden, also from up north, won the limited division. Ron W. won stage 1. The stages: Hard n Soft; two arrays of 3 paper each, left and center, with the C region blacked out. Another three paper array right with only a bit of each showing behind soft cover. Two rounds on each, X’s deduct 1s. Stuff; Push the popper over to activate the bear trap, engage it, then GO! Engage the 8 paper, 5 poppers, 3 falling plates and two bowling pins spread all over. Far & Near; Just admit it. You love it. Siege Shoot; Three paper up front partially obscured by barrels and no shoots. Two round and one big rectangle to the rear. Two rounds on the paper and the big plate. String one paper first. String two steel first. String three your choice. Orthodox; Four round plates and five rectangles set in a big inverted V. Stop at the apex. Three strings all count.

Club Match: The next Wheelburners club match will be on July 10th. Nobody is signed up to do the stages. Don’t forget about the drawing for some cool prize at the end of the year for stage design and setups. Might be a good chance for you to get some chits in.

SWRRC: Twenty two Wheel Burners attended the regional. Here’s how some did: Derek, 2nd overall, first open A. Art, 6th overall first open B. Ron W., 8th overall. Mike D., 10th overall. Dan, 2nd lmtd A. Gregg, 3rd lmtd C. Paul, 1st lmtd D. Rich M., 2nd open D

IRC: The premier revolver event of the year. Activities taking place from June 17-20 near Morro Bay CA. For all the low down go to the ICORE match page.

Club Shirts: Rich has been getting some inquiries about club shirts. He’s asking all those who are interested to mail him stating how many are wanted. Don’t worry, this is not your order. He’s merely trying to determine if there is enough interest to make an order economically viable. If so you’ll have a chance later to pick color, style, size, etc. Cost is determined by what you choose and how large the overall order is. Rich’s e-mail.
