May 2004 Newsletter

Twenty four shooters braved the heat wave to attend. Ron Joslin didn’t disappoint. Among the stages was a paper and steel thingy that proved Far and Near doesn’t have to dominate the scores. All said, a nice mix with something for everybody. Derek won the match and open, taking three stage wins. Juan, returning from an absence, placed second with the remaining two stage wins. Art placed third and Michael won the limited division placing sixth overall. A few other notables: Bob had a nice day and Ron J. seems to be getting back into the swing of things Welcome to Karim Merzian who shoots team Lopez and made his first appearance at Wheelburners. Concerning the scores please note that your ICORE class as represented may not be correct. As well if you recently joined ICORE your number may not be shown. Things are very fluid this time of year and everybody’s overloaded including yours truly. You can help by putting updated class and ICORE numbers on your score sheets. The most recent info can be found at the ICORE classification page. The stages: Stage 1; Four falling plates and a big rectangle stop set up a la Flying M. Best four of five. Far and Near; the compulsories. Stage 3; Four papers close, two plates far. One round on the papers, knock down the steel then one round on the papers. Three runs. The change in cadence caused some grief. Stage 4; 8 papers in your face hiding around barrels. A popper a little ways out hiding as well. Go fast and bob around the barrels. Speed Racer (CS-002); 6 papers widely spaced on the horizontal. Three boxes widely spaced and zigzagging down range. Start in the back box and from each engage the paper one round. Run like the wind.

Club Shirts: Rich has been getting some inquiries about club shirts. He’s asking all those who are interested to mail him stating how many are wanted. Don’t worry, this is not your order. He’s merely trying to determine if there is enough interest to make an order economically viable. If so you’ll have a chance later to pick color, style, size, etc. Cost is determined by what you choose and how large the overall order is. Rich’s e-mail.
