Revolver Match Report By southern California standards it was about as cold as it gets and has gotten in a long time. Pre-match temperatures were about 35 degrees but the breeze made it feel much worse. We waited for the sun's rays to hit the bays before starting and just as it seemed it might get warmer the breeze turned to a stiff and biting wind. We finally got tired of listening to ourselves complain so we shot. That just shows you, anything less than a deluge and we shoot. We even had some fun despite the temperatures. The stages: Bill Drill CS-003; Three papers in a near-by arc. Six rounds on each with reloads in between. Dan, warmed up by this point, took the stage. Archangels; Three arrays of two papers each with a popper in between and placed to partially obscure the targets depending on where you are behind the fault line. First string, dont hit the poppers as they are no-shoots. Second string shoot everything. Derek won this handily. Far & Near; No intro necessary. Mike shooting limited had a spectacular run on this, his personal best, his first stage of the day at that. Rampart; From the barricade knock down the two poppers dividing the wall of barrels then get the seven papers and the plate rack as you see them. Derek sped through to take a win. Triad; Three large rectangles separated by two round plates all set in a vertical triangle. Choose left or right as your first stop then it increments. Best four of five runs. Changing stop plates gave some shooters problems, but not Derek. Rimfire Match Report More perversity than usual, as the stages included some remarkably small plates. Derek continues to run away with the handgun shooting, while Mark is owning the rifle stages with his unusual Walther piece. Febuary Rimfire Match Impromptu stage design as usual - come early and help set 'em how you like to shoot. Shoot with .22 revolver or pistol, then repeat with an extra plate using rifle. Juniors pay only $5 so bring the youngsters. Newbies are $10 as usual; Regulars $15. February ICORE Match More of our "favorite" Far & Near stage as practice for the IRC shifts into high gear.
